Welcome To Wiki!

In the Hawaiian language, "wiki" means quick. This is a quick, interactive site for English 9 students. Always keep in mind that this public domain is an educational resource; therefore, students must not post anything they do not want their principal, parents, and clergyman/woman to read. Inappropriate content will generate unpleasant consequences.

A couplet is 2 lines of verse that rhyme. William Blake's poem, "Three Things to Remember", is composed of 3 couplets:

A Robin Redbreast in a cage

Puts all of Heaven in a rage.

A skylark wounded on the wing

Doth make a cherub cease to sing.

He who shall hurt the little wren

Shall never be beloved by men.

robin          skylark         wren. . .   so cute!

In his poem, Blake warns the reader that there is a consequence for mistreating God's creatures.

Your assignment is to write a poem similar to William Blake's. It must have 6 lines divided into 3 couplets. Your poem needs to caution the reader against a particular action or behavior lest he suffer dire consequences. Be prepared to share your poem on Tuesday, May 1.
