Welcome To Wiki!

An interactive site for the students of Ms. Hansen

You will continue to practice gerunds by writing a Diamante poem. A diamante poem is 7 lines shaped like a diamond: you begin with one topic that transforms into something else. Here is the format:

Line #1:   Noun (beginning topic)

Line#2:   Adjective, Adjective (about beginning topic)

Line#3:   Gerund, Gerund, Gerund (-ing words about beginning topic)

Line #4:  4 nouns or a short phrase (about both beginning and ending topics)

Line #5:  Gerund, Gerund, Gerund (-ing words about ending topic)

Line #6   Adjective, adjective (about ending topic)

Line #7:  Noun (ending topic)

Here is an example written by Justin Rickard:

Student

Young, Bright

Learning, Laughing, Living

Learning much- Thinking hard

Maturing, Growing, Knowing

Knowledgeable, Intelligent

Teacher

Your topic can be about anything, but try to be original. This is a homework assignment, and therefore you should not be bothering Maria in the office to use her computer on the day it is due. If you do not have a computer at home, then bring your rough draft to room 2 before or after school and use the classroom computer. As usual, we will read the poems in class.
