Haiku is Japanese poetry. It was invented many centuries ago. It is composed of three lines of verse that do not rhyme. The challenge is each line is limited to a particular number of syllables.
Line 1: 5 syllables
Line 2: 7 sylables
Line 3: 5 syllables
Your assignment is to write a haiku about anything having to do with the autumn season. It can be about falling leaves, fall sports and Homecoming, Halloween costumes, Thanksgiving dinner... the list is endless! Here is my haiku:
A steadfast scarecrow
armored in burlap and straw
protects fields of gold.
by Ms. Hansen
WIKI will close on Wednesday evening, so you must post by then. Copy from a written rough draft so that you do not impede other students who need time to post their poems. We will read the haikus in class on Thursday, October 20.
