AVID students: A mission statement is a brief passage that descibes your fundamental purpose. You will write your own mission statement and post it on the AVID page. Remember to scroll down the page and type your statement underneath the others, not at the top or middle of the page; otherwise, you might deface or eliminate someone else's work. You may add one graphic if you want to. Wiki window will close Thursday p.m. and we will read the statements on Friday 12/12.
English students: You will practice gerunds by writing a diamond poem. The poem must connect to the season, such as cold weather, winter sports, religious and family holidays, etc. Remember that your beginning topic wil transition to the ending topic, such as caterpillar to butterfly, or child to adult. Here is the pattern:
Noun (beginning topic)
Adjective, adjective (about beginning topic)
gerund, gerund, gerund (-ing words about beginning topic)
four nouns or a short phrase transitioning first and last lines
gerund, gerund, gerund (-ing words about ending topic)
adjective, adjective (about ending topic)
noun (ending topic)
After typing, you want to highlight and center align your poem to make the diamond shape. Here is one written by Priscilla Peralta:
Frog
slimy, warts
hopping, jumping, croaking
muck, lips, magic, kiss
loving, caring, ruling
charm, loyal
Prince
Remember, your topic centers around winter. Also, please add your poem to the bottom of the list instead of at the top or middle so that you don't interfere with someone else's poem. Wiki window will close Wednesday p.m. and we will read them in class on Thursday 12/11.
