WINTER WONDERLAND
You will practice gerunds by writing a diamonte (diamond) poem. The poem must connect to the season, such as cold weather, winter sports, religious holidays and family traditions, etc. Remember that your beginning topic will transition to the ending topic, such as caterpillar to butterfly, or child to adult. Her is the pattern:
Noun (beginning topic)
Adjective, adjective (describes beginning topic)
gerund, gerund, gerund (-ing words about beginning topic)
four nouns or a short phrase transitioning first and second line
gerund, gerund, gerund (-ing words about ending topic)
adjective, adjective (describes ending topic)
noun (ending topic)
After typing, you want to highlight and center align your poem to make the diamond shape. Here is an example:
Day
Bright, sunny
laughing, playing, doing
Up in the east, down in the west
talking, resting, sleeping
quiet, dark
night
Remember, your topic is about winter. We will read our poems on Friday, 12/11.
