Onomatopoiea are words that imitate the sounds they name, such as the bees buzzed, the horns honked, or the witches cackled. Writers choose these words to convey the sound of things that they are describing and emphasize the scene they are describing. Your assignment is to write one paragraph of any household chore you perform, using a minimum of 5 examples of onomatopoia. Here is my example:

 

My cat purrs as the brush shushes through his fur. The surrounding air crackles with static electricity and a spark pops between my finger and his ear. He yowls in surprise and plops belly-up onto the floor, his claws zinging through the air like sharp knives.  -Ms. Hansen
