Welcome To Wiki!
In the Hawaiian language, "wiki" means quick. This is a quick, interactive site for English 9 students. Always keep in mind that this public domain is an educational resource; therefore, students must not post anything they do not want their principal, parents, and clergyman/woman to read. Inappropriate content will generate unpleasant consequences.
Please review our rules for using this site:
- We will post quality work.
- We will respect the work of others.
- We will post only content that is academically relevant.
You will practice gerunds by writing a diamonte (diamond) poem. The topic can be of your choosing. Remember that your beginning topic will transition to the ending topic, such as caterpillar to butterfly, or child to adult. Here is the pattern:
noun (beginning topic)
adjective, adjective (describes beginning topic)
gerund, gerund, gerund (-ing words about beginning topic)
short phrase(s) transitioning from beginning to ending topic
gerund, gerund, gerund (-ing words about ending topic)
adjective, adjective (describes ending topic)
noun (ending topic)
After typing, you want to center align the poem to make the diamond shape. Here is an example:
Day
bright, sunny
laughing, playing, working
Up in the east, down in the west
resting, sleeping, dreaming
quiet, dark
Night
Don't forget to add your name to the poem. We will share them in class on Friday, 12/16.
