Welcome To Wiki!

In the Hawaiian language, "wiki" means quick. This is a quick, interactive     site for English 9 students where they can view daily assignments including vocabulary, upload documents, and post written work. Always keep in mind that this public domain is an educational resource; therefore, students must not write anything they do not want their principal, guardians, and clergyman/woman to read. Inappropriate content will generate unpleasant consequences.

We will post wiki assignments on the wiki and in no other form.

Haiku is a form of Japanese poetry. It was invented many centuries ago. It is composed of three lines of verse that do not rhyme. The challenge is each line is limited to a particular number of syllables:

Line 1: 5 syllables

Line 2: 7 syllables

Line 3: 5 syllables

Your assignment is to write a haiku about anything having to do with the autumn season. It can be about falling leaves, fall sports, Halloween costumes, Thanksgiving dinner... the list is endless! Here is my haiku:

A steadfast scarecrow

armored in burlap and straw

protects fields of gold.

by Ms. Hansen

We will share the poems in class on Friday 10/4. Do not procrastinate or you will be embroiled in the Freshmen Frenzy, or you may miss the "wiki window" altogether. Post directly onto your class page, not the "Describe your changes" box. Don't forget to add your name below the poem. Be sure you SAVE before you LOG OFF.
